The Nail Company is a nail salon on Market Parade in Sidcup, Greater London. The unit began life as a retail shop in the A1 use class, and my client took it on to open a new salon.
The brief was to convert the retail unit into a nail salon and to secure consent for the shop signage and advertisement, ready in time for the signing of the lease.
The project ran under a tight time constraint. The change of use and the advertisement and signage consent both had to be in place within the lease timetable, and the design needed the landlord’s approval before it could proceed.
I submitted a planning application for the change of use from retail (A1) to a nail salon (Sui Generis), and a second application for the display of advertisement and shop signage. I worked with my client to fine tune the design and liaised with the landlord to obtain approval. My involvement continued into the Building Regulations stage, working with Building Control on the technical requirements through to completion.
The consents were obtained within the lease timeframe. The client brought a clear vision to the scheme and managed the internal fit out through to opening.
